Nikola Tesla - "Mr. Tesla Explains Why He Will Never Marry"

I've been researching Nikola Tesla quite a lot lately. I decided to go ahead and post this article I found in the Newspaper Archives. I think that it is part of a complete portrait of the man who was Nikola Tesla--BUT I think that it is important to remember that the year was 1924. And further, remember that Nikola Tesla always attributed his intellect and gift for invention to his mother, who was an inventor herself.

Galveston Daily News, Galveston, Texas, page 23. August 10, 1924.

Mr. Tesla Explains Why He Will Never Marry

Famous Scientist Felt Un-
worthy of Woman as She
Used To Be, and Now He
Can't Endure Her
Trying to Outdo
the Men

WHEN a man who has made a name for himself deliberately chooses to remain a bachelor the world is naturally curious to know what the reasons were that impelled him to this choice.

Marriage has come to be considered the natural thing for every normal man, and when some pre-eminent man shows a firm determination to sidestep it everybody wonders whether his superior intelligence has revealed to him some fatal defects in the institution of matrimony which are not apparent to the average person.

But the public's curiosity in this respect is seldom gratified. Most of the distinguished bachelors try to pass off their bachelorhood as a joke, saying that it is not a matter of choice, but because they have never been able to find a woman who would marry them. As a rule, they are singularly averse to giving any serious reasons for their failure to become husbands.

Nikola Tesla, the great scientist and inventor, is a striking exception to this rule. In a recent interview with a representative of this newspaper he frankly explains why he has never married and why he probably never will marry.

And in connection with his explanation he presents some ideas about woman's freedom and what he thinks it is sure to lead to that will be read with interest by those who agree with him as well as by the many who will not.

Caption: "In place of the soft voiced, gentle woman of my reverent worship," says Mr. Tesla, "has come the woman who thinks that her chief success in life lies in making herself as much as possible like man--in dress, voice and actions, in sports and achievements of every kind"

In the past the reason why Mr. Tesla never married was because his estimation of woman placed her on such a lofty pedestal that he could never bring himself to feel worthy of her. Now that she has, as he feels, stepped down from her pedestal and bartered all her noblest qualities for what is called her "freedom," he is even more disinclined to matrimony than he was before.

Although of course Mr. Tesla is too gallant a gentleman to say it in so many words, his comments let it be inferred that he thinks the new woman almost as far beneath him as the one of other days was above him. According to his views, the sex has rushed from one extreme to another of quite a different kind, and in the plunge it has left for Mr. Tesla and other bachelors who think as he does no "happy medium" such as Josiah Allen's wife used to declare one of the essentials to happiness.

Caption: Ida Schnall, the all-around woman athlete, in a boxing bout with Willie Bradley--a sure indication, according to Mr. Tesla's rather gloomy views, that our civilization is deteriorating

"I had always thought of woman," says Mr. Tesla, "as possessing those delicate qualities of mind and soul that made her in these respects far superior to man. I had put her on a lofty pedestal, figuratively speaking, and ranked her in certain important attributes considerably higher than man. I worshiped at the feet of the creature I had raised to this height, and, like every true worshiper, I felt myself unworthy of the object of my worship.

"But all this was in the past. Now the soft-voiced gentle woman of my reverent worship has all but vanished. In her place has come the woman who thinks that her chief success in life lies in making herself as much as possible like man--in dress, voice and actions, in sports and achievements of every kind."

In those words the great electrical genius sums up the reasons for his bachelorhood.

Some who read them will urge that his view of womankind is distorted by the years he has spent in the laboratory, dealing with inanimate things and developing perhaps an abnormal shyness which acts as an insuperable barrier to marriage. Others will say that the very fact of his detachment from the ordinary routine of life makes him all the better qualified to point out its defects and to criticize the change for the worse which he believes new conditions have brought to womankind.

"Women," says Mr. Tesla, "are becoming stronger than men, both physically and mentally.

"The world has experienced many tragedies, but to my mind the greatest tragedy of all is the present economic condition wherein women strive against men, and in many cases actually succeed in usurping their places in the professions and in industry. This growing tendency of women to overshadow the masculine is a sign of a deteriorating civilization.

"Woman's determined competition with man in the business world is breaking down some of the best traditions--things which have proved the moving factors in the world's slow but substantial progress.

"Practically all the great achievements of man until now have been inspired by his love and devotion to woman. Man has aspired to great things because some woman believed in him, because he wished to command her admiration and respect. For these reasons he has fought for her and risked his life and his all for her time and time again.

"Perhaps the male in human society is useless. I am frank to admit that I don't know. If women are beginning to feel this way about it--and there is striking evidence at hand that they do--then we are entering upon the cruelest period of the world's history.

"Our civilization will sink to a state like that which is found among the bees, ants and other insects--a state wherein the male is ruthlessly killed off. In this matriarchal empire which will be established the female rules. As the female predominates, the males are at her mercy. The male is considered important only as a factor in the general scheme of the continuity of life.

"The tendency of women to push aside man, supplanting the old spirit of cooperation with him in all the affairs of life, is very disappointing to me.

"Woman's independence and her cleverness in obtaining what she wants in the business world is breaking down man's spirit of independence. The old fire he once experienced at being able to achieve something that would compel and hold a woman's devotion is turning to ashes.

"Women don't seem to want that sort of thing to-day. They appear to want to control and govern. They want man to look up to them, instead of their looking up to him."

Mr. Tesla is not given to making statements that he cannot prove. His life's work has been based on logic, not on guesses.

Caption: Mrs. Davenport Engberg, the director of a symphony orchestra and a good example of the way women are entering fields that used to be exclusively men's

In voicing his gloomy views of modern life Mr. Tesla says his observations are not confined to the women of this country. Conditions abroad, he says, suggest that the same tendency is world-wide. Having always regarded woman as a super-being, he expresses great sadness over the change he thinks the last few years have brought in her.

"I am considering this question not merely from the standpoint of a man," he points out. "I am thinking of the woman's side of it.

"As we contemplate any change, we naturally take into consideration the results that may follow such an innovation. One of the results to my mind is quite a pathetic one. Woman, herself, is really the victim instead of, as she thinks, the victor. Contentment is absent from her life. She is ambitious, often far beyond her natural equipment, to attain the thing she wants. She too frequently forgets that all women cannot be prima donnas and motion picture stars.

"Woman's discontent makes the life of the present day still more overstressed. The high pitch given to existence by people who are restless and dissatisfied because they fail to achieve things wholly out of proportion to the health and talent with which Nature has endowed them is a bad thing for the world.

"It seems to me that women are not particularly happy in this newly found freedom, in this new competition which they are waging so persistently against men in business and the professions and even in sport. The question that naturally arises is, whether the women themselves are the gainers or the losers.

"Discontent makes for cranks and unnatural people. There seems to be an uncommon number of them about to-day. This is one of the reasons I remain apart from the crowds. The public, or semi-public, character is the target for all sorts of attacks and unpleasant communications.

Caption: A woman worker in a Michigan railroad machine shop

"For example, I used to receive all sorts of strange notes, many of them letters from cranks threatening my life, because they had read about my experiments in manufacturing lightning bolts. They wrote that they believed I was using these lightning flashes to kill them!
"It seems to me that anything which adds to the great discontent which we observe on every side to-day must be a bad influence on our life. Women who keep themselves agitated by their tremendous ambition to beat man at his game are losing at the same time something that counts for more in the end, it seems to me, than the empty honors that success in business or one of the professions can ever give.

"The power of the true woman is so great that I believe if a beautiful woman--that is to say, one beautiful in spirit, in manner and in thought, in fact, beautiful in every respect, a sort of goddess--were to appear suddenly on earth, she could command the whole world. Her leadership, I believe, would be universally recognized.

"History has given us many examples of the wonderful influence exerted by unusual women. Among these have been the mothers of great men. But their influence lay not in their determination to outdo man, or even to compete with him.

"Perhaps because woman is a finer and more highly sensitized instrument she knows by instinct her power and understands that the extent of it lies in the high position she takes for herself. But the superior never descends to the level of the commonplace."

These views of Nikola Tesla will be received with great interest, whether one agrees or not with his idea that woman in her new role is a sinister force that is going to pull down to ruin our whole social structure. He is generally recognized as one of the greatest mentalities of the present day.

Caption: Renee Prahar, one of many women who are trying to outstrip the men in sculpture

Twenty years ago Tesla astonished the world by flashing a wireless message clear around the globe. His experimental work paved the way for the radio age in which we are now living. Many scientists think it quite possible that one of his highly sensitized machines actually caught signals from Mars.

For several years past he has been living in comparative seclusion in the Colorado Rockies, devoting himself to the perfection of two or three inventions which he expects will revolutionize methods of transportation and communication. He is almost ready to explain to the world a way of transmitting electrical energy without the use of wires.

This will enable the energy from some great source of power like Niagara Falls to be quickly and economically transmitted to any desired part of the earth--and, perhaps, some day to Mars and other planets.

Some philosopher has said that it is as perilous for a man to say he will never marry as for a physician to try to predict the exact hour of a person's death. Mr. Tesla is not an old man. Perhaps he will live long enough to find some woman who will be able to convince him that she has attained her new freedom without sacrificing any of the womanly qualities which he so greatly admires.

Fascinating, too bad he erased his lineage from this world. What he failed to realize was that by not marrying, his family line was extinct.

Anonymous December 4, 2012 at 5:01 PM

sorry, "became extinct"

He seems old fashioned in his views. I would have expected better from Mr. Tesla.

Pierre and Marie Curie married and together as equals discovered radium.. As brilliant as Mr Tesla was, it soundl like he never met a woman equal to him; therefore, he was better off remaining unwed.

Anonymous April 1, 2013 at 11:46 PM

Maybe he was gay, and he didn't want to publicize it at the time.

Anonymous April 6, 2013 at 1:10 PM

Straight, gay, old fashioned, brilliantly revolutionary. None of it matters. What is most relevant is our understanding an intellectual giant's knowledge of his self & accepting his choice to not marry.

I'm a huge Tesla fan, but disappointed by this...sounds like 'Mommy' issues and perhaps no actual, physical attraction to women as this all seems ethereal...

Anonymous June 20, 2013 at 5:10 PM

Tesla is right . Most of us have lost because of those feminists , who were not attractive enough to get men fall in love with them.... Tesla describes what I tried to be , my whole life ...

Great article, thank you!

braveheartwallace July 12, 2013 at 6:27 PM

Nanette, I want to thank you for posting this article. Many people do not know Tesla was a Eunuch, I can't find out when he had the procedure done though, can you assist? The tesla museum in Croatia confirmed this fact when I visited them where his boyhood home was. You can't find any info on this in a goog search. As to his political views on the downfall of civilization, I watch a brilliant woman on youtube called "girl writes what" and a website called "a voice for men" that talks about these societal predictions of Tesla and how many men would be destroyed in modern society and I am very worried. After witnessing how many men are unfairly destroyed in our court systems, I think Tesla shows again his brilliance about what was coming.

I am here Mr. Telsa, your goddess has arrived..100 + years late but you know women..jk. Well seriously, something about his face or eyes caught my attention, such beauty and I could understand what he feels. I think everyone looks for this perfection in life in people in partners especially. However, seeing how he felt, if he wasn't gay, then it made me think or perhaps for others as well..sometimes this perfection cannot be found but perhaps we should try to be more forgiving or understanding of others even if they come up a bit short..and leave the perfection to the gods or goddesses. I understand what he meeans though but I think all people feel this way about life and some ppl are afraid of getting hurt too so caution is there too..hmmm...too bad, such a nice looking man well hoped he had some relatives to carry on his genes. : ) Liked both pics. Good story, made me think of life, can relate to his ideas.

Tesla actually considerably changed his views on women and a matriarchy a few years later. Where once he didn't like the 'society of the bee', he then began to praise it.

"BUT the female mind has demonstrated a capacity for all the mental acquirements and achievements of men, and as generations ensue that capacity will be expanded; the average woman will be as well educated as the average man, and then better educated, for the dormant faculties of her brain will be stimulated to an activity that will be all the more intense and powerful because of centuries of repose. Woman will ignore precedent and startle civilization with their progress."

I still like Tesla. He was a fine man, very fine indeed. Too bad I wasn't around to marry him..
I think he took it the wrong way, though..as men still do, today;not all women try to "compete" with men, but merely want to do something interesting and worthwhile with their time, while also gaining financial independence; compettition is merely a bi-product of women following their dreams(best case scenario, at least)

Anonymous November 19, 2013 at 2:24 PM

The only thing you don't like about Tesla is that he's not supportive of your foolishness. Guess what, he was a man, not your queer friend from high school.

The only way a woman would consider using her brain is:

- She is ugly.
- I wanna please my engineer daddy/mommy.
- Society told me to.

Might as well stay home and watch the kids.

Pardon me, forgot 4rd box.

- I'm a tomboy and closet lesbian.

I have doubts he said all of that. It seems like someone just wants to frown on women doing any accomplishments. His own mother was an inventor.

Anonymous December 6, 2013 at 1:04 AM

This just proves that men can be gossipy little liars too.

Go read what Tesla ACTUALLY wrote without the tabloid type appeal. I'm glad not all engineers are jerks who think a little too highly of themselves.

I can't see why sexists are scared of women in power considering men have done the most damage to the world and you have NO EXCUSE like PMS so don't even try that one unless you consider your everyday life like constantly being on your monthly.

Tons of men HAVE been saying why they aren't marrying. Problem is NOBODY is listening to the men. They are met with resistance and mockery. Truth is, these men have found that intellectual pursuits have more to offer than a partner can. Truth is that besides reproduction purposes, the rest is a waste of time.

GlennyJ December 30, 2013 at 7:43 AM

Someone 'suggested' that what Nikola Tesla 'failed to realize was that by not marrying, his family line was extinct. How does 'Anonymous' know that it was not his intention?

Perhaps Nikola did not want any offspring to suffer worse fates than he did; worse fates which are now upon the world. War, disease, famine, nuclear radiation, pollution and the ever-present threat of nuclear war.

Nikola lived through rough times and appreciated and understood politics. He saw the build up to World War I and died in the middle of World War II.

I would never accuse Nikola Tesla of NOT having foresight, unless you count how he was duped by bankers and industrialists and had his momentum stalled. The man was a minimalist, and although brilliant, not perfect with reading nefarious people.

Nikola's technologies are now in the process of doing what he predicted, for he is supposed to have said, "The present is their's. The future, for which I have truly laboured; is mine.

Nice post!
The prediction about men being destroyed by women feels rather extreme and paranoid though I must admit. Entertaining none the less. I completely agree with his decision not to marry. There's really nothing in it for men now. Modern women are,an utter disappointment in my experience. Yes I have been married. My Advice to any man would be save your money and focus on your goals. Women will suck you dry and not in the way you'd like.

Anonymous January 16, 2014 at 8:34 PM

Nicky came into this life married, in a manner of speaking. His convictions and work held his thoughts and his love. I'm glad he didn't marry, not one of the women of his time are worthy of his attentions. It's true.

Anonymous March 22, 2014 at 12:02 PM

What the hell is wrong with all you sexist pigs. Women want to use their minds for exactly that - to use their minds. Not to be more like men. It's ridiculous to assume using your mind and having a profession is a male thing. You've decide it's a male thing when it's actually a common human desire

Anonymous April 6, 2014 at 9:50 AM

Nikola Tesla.. It is a damn shame that you could not have passed on your knowledge, reasoning & logic onto a son or daughter to keep a small part of yourself alive with your amazing inventions and ideas.. for that I truly do weep.

A nice piece.. surprising how it has panned out in general to modern times. Though in this world that was ruled by men for so long.. it would make a nice change to see if women do it better.. Shame that if they do indeed try to act like men though, we are back to square one.

Many people that want to take the above the wrong way will.. and always will, but women are wonderful and acting like a man will not improve things, for those that do.

White, straight, males are the only ones not allowed to moan about anyone else.. lol.. that’s a joke.

All I can say is when, socially, the going is easy equality can progress as it should.. in times of hardship (in the natural world) this is not the case because man naturally wants to be dominant and at these times, men normally are.. (think how things have always evolved with social structures remote regions with indigenous populations) So never confuse social equality with natural equality.

Being civilised is great and allows us to be equal, but it’s not a given. In times of real world hardship we are truly not on equal terms.

DO NOT TRY TO BE ON EQUAL TERMS WITH MANS GREED!

So ladies keep doing that sweet thing... Men try not to be jerks... and feminists.. don't cut your hair short.. you look prettier with it longer ;)

Just remember you have the blessing of being able to bring a new life into this world and that is something that men will never have and always love you for... at least real men!

This is one of many fake interviews with Tesla.

Tesla didn't like the press so they just made things up which made him like them even less.

What Tesla wrote in his own letters is that electricity would free women from household chores and with their new free time they would demand the vote and would vote against war.

He got 2 out of 3 right.

Nightowl April 11, 2014 at 6:41 AM

Tesla was just trying to warn us. That women are capable of surpassing men in general, by any means. I feel his concern was more towards the future though. And how this switch of power in gender could affect balance of things in nature. Maybe Tesla feared the extinction of the Human race in a distant tomorrow.

Anonymous April 11, 2014 at 7:15 PM

Regardless of the authenticity of this interview, there is no debate that our society has degenerated substantially since Tesla's time. Much of this could be linked to the disappearance of the nuclear family and the extreme entitlements given to women at the expense of men by centralized government. Socialized healthcare is essentially young men paying for young women: the only two gender age ranges with substantially different health costs. Women now compromise a majority of college graduates, yet it is substantially easier for them to gain admission to prestigious degree programs in STEM fields, and then to obtain employment afterward with the same credentials as a male grad. Male workplace deaths are multiples higher than female. Men are incarcerated much more often and are assumed to be the aggressor by law enforcement in confrontations with women. Family courts have shown a well-documented bias towards women. Divorce proceedings almost always financially impact men more severely. Men are subject to conscription laws. Traditionally male activities have been significantly reduced in the name of "equality." Title 9 has essentially decimated non-revenue generating male sports teams at American state schools, which has in turn decimated the population of legitimate male student athletes. Absurd statistics are bandied about in the mainstream (by the president himself) about the fallacious gender wage pay gap in order to maintain the narrative of male patriarchal exploitation despite the obvious reality of the reverse. In popular culture, the delicate feminine nature/wisdom/Eros of the antique is derided and criticized as a relic of the patriarchy.. all while women who present themselves as sexual commodities are glorified and find themselves in positions of immense mimetic impact (Miley, Kim K, etc). Make of it what you will.. a natural progression of mankind's march into modernity.. or perhaps something more sinister..

Anonymous May 2, 2014 at 9:14 AM

Even though he lived so long ago, I am incredibly attracted to him. He was brilliant, handsome and a real gentleman. I wish I knew him back then. I would have married him if he was interested and given him children that might have been geniuses also. I would have supported his work and taken care of him.

Anonymous May 3, 2014 at 9:57 PM

Nice summary. All of your statements can be verified by facts and it amounts to a total fisk of the feminist narrative. Interestingly, this has all happened before and will happen again in cycles at the civilization level. Patriarchy builds civilization, power is yielded to a Matriarchy, civilization collapses, repeat. Yin and Yang, I guess. Given which part of the cycle we are in, it's really unnecessary to get too worked up about changing things within the current system as it really is too far gone and won't be around much longer anyways.

Anonymous May 9, 2014 at 3:23 PM

I cant help but notice that outside of the small number of women in prominent positions of each industry , major corporation, govt, etc, most women have "benefited" from their competition with men by becoming 'servants' to many instead of 'servant' to a loving partner or family.

Example- the service industry is 90% women. Walk into any corporate office environment, majority of admins and personel are women. Many are single moms. Sure, they have their "freedom". If being a wage slave and a single mom is your definition of freedom. What are they 'Free" to do? If it wasnt for the EIC tax credit, medicare and a bevy of other social programs, most of these 'independent women' couldn't survive financially.

For those that pulled ahead, bravo. Why are so many of you perennially on dating sites?

The middle ground has been passed, and Tesla was right, it has not benefited women as a whole, just a minority percentage.

The most unfortunate part of all of this, (and most poetic) is that the superior women are not procreating, and subsequently their genetics are being lost.

Then all of mankind loses- or perhaps evolution is having its say.

Drew Beaudin June 17, 2014 at 8:25 AM

Maybe be true. But if you believe reincarnation is possible then its possible Tesla was born again as someone else.

Anonymous June 20, 2014 at 3:43 PM

true. what many people don't see was his words were echoes from Biblical text. from Genesis... and even Biblical prophecies. Women kills chivalry, indeed. Personally i encountered men who said the same thing to me. But, what they don't know i feel so sad that men are not up to their roles and responsibilities. It's frustrating when men don't even know how to use a hammer, fix fences properly... unable to lead a family. I guess Mr. Tesla, some women thinks the same way as you do. you were right, it's a deteriorating society.

JT August 23, 2014 at 3:35 PM

Wow another man who hates women. Well he was already married to his work. What decent woman wants to constantly do all the work at home whilst some man is out looking for accolades for his work anyway? Men consistently want to go off and do anything they want whilst having a female at home putting up with that. I'm glad he never married. He was either gay or didn't deserve a decent woman anyhow.

Anonymous August 23, 2014 at 6:02 PM

Oh my, being completely serious. I think I am the reincarnation of Nikola Tesla.

Anonymous August 31, 2014 at 12:18 AM

Nikola tesla is almost/becoming right,

look at our generation today,
Male nerds who focus on the career path of life, are usually bullied, and when not mostly disregarded as unattractive.
Some gets discouraged though,
while females who have good success in career are usually admired by everyone.

Michael Motes August 31, 2014 at 12:25 AM

Hater JT is typical of the modern death of our civilization. Women need to be good mothers, that was essentially all Tesla was trying to say. That entails a lot more work and practice and psychology than you know, JT. Women need to be soft and nourishing and fertile to be good mothers, that's why they don't go rough and tumble through the world. That's why cultures that retained this value will out evolve the ones that don't.

Anonymous September 4, 2014 at 12:36 PM

fake, fake, fake, Tesla never saw this. His concept of woman is totally opposite. That's a note to the texan taste, like some readers from this century I see in here.

Anonymous September 7, 2014 at 1:46 AM

Sadly, men are trying to adjust to the "natural selection" curve by modifying their thoughts to posmo-women's. This is, they're zigzaging between wanting a feminine women like we've always wanted for thousands of years to this new breed of androgynous women. The result is only the conception of the same feminine-weak men and masculine-women.

Anonymous September 7, 2014 at 3:31 PM

Today's hipsters that think they admire Tesla will be very disappointed by this. Reading through the comments, one can see an extreme degree of cognitive dissonance.

Tesla was quite accurate in his portrayal of the downside of angry women. In fact, he did not go far enough. Western civilization is being dragged down; not by terrorists and such (though we are making things easier for them) - but by internal rot. Much of which, you will find expressed in contemporary feminism.

Anonymous September 10, 2014 at 6:12 PM

The "competition" Mr. Tesla describes between women and men is a MALE construct. Where I'm sure there are a few women out there that truly would take this competitive stance, the majority of women have a very different process of thinking. As the "social sex", women are more inclined to do that which is better for all involved, rather than that which would advance their individual agenda.

I think Mr. Tesla did begin to understand this in his later years, which could be what led to the retraction of his previously held views on the woman's place in society. Men have long feared the "weaker sex" for reasons that elude me. Remember the Catholic Inquisition and Salem Witch Trials?

Women tend to be more in tune with their spirituality as well, and I believe they will eventually be the ones that bridge the gap between spirituality and science; a fact that has many wealthy businessmen nervous. It is time, however, to set aside man's tendency toward financial greed and embrace women's ability to bring peace to humanity.

Anonymous September 10, 2014 at 6:28 PM

I must admit, I am surprised that the Smithsonian.com opted to include ONLY Mr. Tesla's older views on Eugenics, electing to completely omit the fact that those views changed over time. Now why on Earth would an organization that is highly funded by our government want to smear Mr. Tesla's name you ask? To put it simply: Because they want to incite anger in feminists. Mr. Tesla's work was revolutionary, but to have a young female pick up where he left off would go against the agenda of our current regime. It is no longer Mr. Tesla who holds the view that women belong in the kitchen...it's those that wish to continue inciting anger about it a century later.

Did Mr. Tesla have some rather questionable views in his younger years? You betcha. Would I have loved to have a debate with him about it? Sure would have. Do I believe eugenics is entirely wrong? Hmm, now that's tricky, given the fact that I have stated before "People should have to pass a test to have children." Is that fair? Not sure if the individuals that failed it would believe so, but the rest of society would be stronger for not having those genes in the gene pool. Some folks truly are terrible parents, and their children suffer for it. Is that fair to the kids? Whose rights should we be more concerned about? The rights of those who had no choice in who their parents were, and subsequently live a life of horror and pain as a result of being born into a home of repeated abuse and neglect? Or the rights of the parents that commit those atrocities? I bet if you really think on that for a bit, your feelings may shift.

Either way...I just wanted to say shame on the writer of this article for failing to include the ENTIRE truth. Truth based on omission is not truth, it's disinformation...something the US Govt has grown quite skilled at doing.

Anonymous September 10, 2014 at 6:46 PM

I'm curious. How does women becoming more independent and successful create men who lack chivalry? Is the the fault of women that the males in our civilization lack the motivation it requires to soldier on when met with an equal and not a subservient housewife? Seriously, you truly cannot blame the weakness of males on the strength of women. That's ludicrous. If they lack the ambition to be anything but a "worker bee", that choice was their own to make. Trust me, most strong women would still prefer to have capable partners that know how to do basic home repair and put together a child's bike (even those that are capable of doing it themselves). Women don't desire incompetence in their men, they want excellence. If men lack the drive to be strong, they have NO ONE to blame for it but themselves.

At the time, his views were not terribly uncommon though most did not disfigure themselves to the extreme Tesla was supposed to have.

That having been said, focusing on the negatives in his life is honestly an insult to everything we can learn from what he tried to contribute to the world.

I, personally, don't believe many of those to be his actual beliefs, however and I think the author of this article is going well out of their way to push an agenda and stamp out all the good he did for the world.
